Education

Christian Education, learning about and sharing our understanding of our faith, is an important part of growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ. St. Paul’s offers educational opportunities for all ages through our Sunday School, Confirmation, Faith Stepping Stones, and Chara! classes.

Chara!:

Chara! is a bible study that meets on Thursdays at 8:15 am and at 6:30 pm in the Church Library. Various books of the Bible are studied. For more information or the present schedule people can contact the church office. You do not need to be a member of St. Paul's to attend.

Confirmation Instruction:

For 7th graders and above, for two years during the school year. It involves class sessions, homework assignments, memorization, and assisting with worship ministries. Those fulfilling requirements are eligible to celebrate Rite of Confirmation.

First Communion Instruction:

Five-session course of preparation for receiving First Communion for 5th through 8th graders.

Faith Stepping Stones:

Faith Stepping Stones is a program which encourages families to grow in faith together, through educational classes at church, and through developing faith practices at home. Our families are encouraged, every day, to share with one another the best and worst from their days, to take their joys and concerns to God, to confess and forgive the wrongs they have done, to share a reading from the Bible, and to close each day by giving one another God’s blessing. By doing this, we hope that our families may grow closer together, and grow in trust and love of one another and of Jesus Christ.

Sunday School:

Installation of Sunday School TeachersOur Sunday School Director is Susan McDermott. She comes to us with over 15 years of Sunday School director experience. She has many fun and exciting ideas.

Sunday School consists of weekly one hour sessions during the school year and are held in the lower level of the church beginning at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings.

There will no longer be a snack and prayer in the fellowship hall before Sunday School. It will now be held in the individual classrooms. There are sign up sheets for your child’s classroom. The teachers may have certain snacks they would like you to bring for certain weeks. They are going to try to have the snack go with the lesson if possible. The kids are to go directly to their classroom.

All of the classrooms will be doing the same lesson, just at different age levels. If you ask your first grader and your sixth grader what the lesson was about, they both will be able to give you the same answer.

If you have a child that will be turning four years old during the Sunday School year (August 13 – May 9) they are more than welcome to start Sunday School after their fourth birthday. You do not have to wait until next year to start them. You can bring them to Sunday School on the closest Sunday to their birthday. It is always good to get the little ones started learning about Jesus. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the church office or Susan McDermott..

Vacation Bible School:

Daily class sessions are held for one week (Sunday through Thursday) in the month of August for preschool through high school.
